Shafi Sahibzada has twelve years of experience in academia where he has worked as a researcher and lecturer. He has completed a PhD in Epidemiology and public health from Charles Sturt University. He has worked with several national and international organisations in international research and development. Shafi has outstanding experience in a One Health approach, survey design to investigate population diseases, high-level data analysis skills, including epigenomic data and excellent scientific report writing. His primary interest is in the epidemiology of infectious diseases of zoonotic and anthroponotic importance, antimicrobial resistance, risk analysis, disease modelling, understanding emerging zoonotic pathogens and evaluating the public health impact.
Presently he works as a team leader at Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) formerly known as the Australian Animal Health Laboratory. ACDP) helps protect Australia’s multi-billion-dollar livestock and aquaculture industries, and the general public, from emerging infectious disease threats. It is a high-containment facility designed to allow scientific research into the most dangerous infectious agents in the world.
